The Urban Art Campaign "Weltbaustellen" of the One World Network NRW
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations have been in force since 1 January 2016. They are the result of a global debate on the sustainability of previous development strategies and were signed by 198 countries.
The One World Network NRW would like to discuss these world development goals and the 2030 agenda of the United Nations with people in NRW. Among other things, the NRW-wide campaign "Weltbaustellen NRW" served this purpose.
In 2016 and 2017, large-scale murals were created in 17 cities by a duo of artists from the Global North and South. The pictures take up the theme of sustainable development and thus create access to the theme in society.
Each painting phase was accompanied by a varied supporting programme. They make it possible to shed more light on the thematic contents and discuss them. The partners on-site were local Eine Welt initiatives and associations, which coordinated the actions on site.
Together with other local partners, Exile Kulturkoordination realized a world construction site in Duisburg and Essen in September/October 2017.
